The Urban Crop Circles

Why not bring good friends together to plant and cook dinners together. Urban Crop Circles was BORN. Five groups of friends, one for each of the five beds would plant and grow what they like. Once the plants matured, one group of friends would take turns cooking from their bed but they could come over anytime to take from the beds what they needed for dinner. What started as a way to stop needless caring for a lawn has grown into a social event for friends…Welcome to the Urban Crop Circle!

The Birth of Urban Crop Circles

Urban Crop Circles was born out a desire to stop having to water, fertilize and basically ruin the environment trying to keep up a lawn with no real purpose. During the winter of 2008-2009 a few friends were spending the ice storm out up near Mount Baker. At some point the discussion turned to summer and lawn parties as we all dreamed of summer warmth. The conversation soon turned to the burden of keeping up a lawn. The idea came up that we should turn part of our lawn into a garden of raised beds, and then someone suggested a p-patch for friends. With the economy turning like it was the idea of bringing back the old idea of a Victory Garden seemed like a great idea. Why not bring good friends together to plant and cook dinners. Urban Crop Circles was BORN. Five groups of friends, one for each of the five beds would plant and grow what they like. Once the plants matured, one group of friends would take turns cooking from their bed. Of course they could come over anytime to take from the beds what they needed for thier own dinners. What started as a way to stop needless caring for a lawn has grown into a social event for friends…Welcome to the Urban Crop Circle! AND the adventure of creating what will become an annual tradition, what else could happen when you put a bunch of experience-lacking gardners together...I mean, really?
